Long-term parking at Bratislava airport - where and for how much
Flying for a longer vacation or business trip? Parking for 2, 3 or 4 weeks at Bratislava airport requires a slightly different approach than a weekend trip. Prices for long-term parking vary dramatically and the right choice can save you over €200.
What are your options
For long-term parking, there are realistically two options to consider: airport P2/P3 and external parking with transfer. P1 is completely unsuitable for long-term parking.
Airport P2
P2 is a reliable choice - you park and you're at the terminal in a few minutes. The problem is the price. The P2 pricing is designed primarily for shorter stays. Over 15 days, you're charged €169 plus €25 for each additional day. Three weeks at P2 costs €319, a month costs €494.
| Duration | P2 | P3 |
|---|---|---|
| 14 days | €159 | €149 |
| 15 days | €169 | €159 |
| 21 days | €319 | €309 |
| 30 days | €494 | €484 |
At €25 for each day over 15, long-term parking at the airport becomes one of the most expensive options available.
Airport P3
P3 is €10 cheaper than P2 for the same number of days. But for 21+ days, the difference is only €10 - and you're still paying €300+. Plus a 20-minute walk with luggage after a month abroad isn't pleasant.
External parking with transfer
This is where long-term parking really pays off. External parking lots have degressive pricing - the longer you park, the lower the daily rate. For 21 days, you get down to €3-7 per day including transfer to the terminal.
| Duration | External (range by season) | Savings vs P2 |
|---|---|---|
| 14 days | €56 - 112 | €47 - 103 |
| 21 days | €63 - 147 | €172 - 256 |
| 30 days | €75 - 210 | €284 - 419 |
For monthly parking, the savings compared to P2 is €300-400. That's not pocket change - you could pay for a return flight with that difference.
What to consider for long-term parking
Security is paramount. For monthly parking, your car is on-site for 30 days. Make sure the parking lot has a camera system, lighting, and ideally fencing. Ask if there's staff on-site or at least regular inspections.
Car keys. For long-term parking, it's even more important to know who has access to your vehicle. Prefer parking lots where you keep the keys and no one handles your car.
Date flexibility. Long trips sometimes get extended or shortened. Choose parking where you can change dates without complications and fees. Best if it's online, without phone calls.
Payment for actual days. Some parking lots charge every started day as a full day. Others count precisely by hours. For 30-day parking, this can mean a difference of one day.
Car battery condition. If you leave your car standing for a month, the battery may drain - especially in winter. If you know you'll be away longer, consider disconnecting the battery or ask if the parking lot can help if needed.
Insurance. Standard car insurance covers parking outside your garage too. But if you only have basic liability insurance, consider whether the parking lot offers any additional coverage for vandalism or damage.
Who is long-term external parking ideal for
Long-term external parking makes the most sense for people traveling for 2+ weeks - typically summer vacation, business assignment, visiting family abroad, or longer trips. The savings compared to the airport are most significant for such stays.
For short 2-3 day trips, the price difference may not be worth it. But from 5 days and up, external parking clearly wins - both in price and service (transfer, luggage assistance, flight tracking).
Summary
Long-term parking directly at the airport is expensive. Over 15 days, both P2 and P3 reach hundreds of euros. External parking lots with transfer offer the same functionality (secure parking + transport to terminal) for a fraction of the price. For monthly parking, the difference is often €300-400.
The key is to verify security, flexibility of changes, and cancellation conditions. If these fit, external parking is clearly the best choice for long-term parking.
