Airport Parking in Summer - Why Book in Advance

Airport Parking5 min read

July and August are the busiest months of the year at Bratislava Airport. Charter flights to Antalya, Hurghada or Burgas are added to regular Ryanair and Wizz Air routes. Travelers fly on holidays, car parks fill up and those who leave it to the last minute may have trouble finding a space at a reasonable price.

Why summer is different

During a normal year, Bratislava Airport has stable operations with a predictable number of passengers. In summer, the situation changes. Seasonal charter routes are added, the number of departures increases and with them the number of cars that need airport parking.

The busiest periods are the last week of June, all of July and the first three weeks of August. Weekends tend to be worse than weekdays, as most holiday flights depart on Saturday or Sunday.

In summer 2026, several charter destinations are planned from Bratislava. Antalya, Hurghada and Burgas are among the most popular. A complete list of destinations can be found in the overview of flights from Bratislava.

Summer prices are higher

The parking price list at Bratislava Airport has three seasonal bands. The summer season (June to August) is significantly more expensive than winter. For comparison, several points:

  • 7-day stay: €40 (winter) vs €63 (summer)
  • 10-day stay: €46 (winter) vs €75 (summer)
  • 14-day stay: €58 (winter) vs €92 (summer)

This means that a two-week summer holiday will cost you €30 to €35 more for parking than the same length in winter months. A complete price overview can be found in the price list and in more detail in the article about prices.

Those who book earlier at least have peace of mind about a space. Those who wait until the last few days before departure risk the car park being full.

Official P2 car park and its limits

The official P2 car park directly at the airport cannot be reserved in advance. It works on a "first come, first served" principle. In a normal month that's enough. In summer it's not.

If you arrive on a Saturday morning in mid-July, P2 may be full. The airport does not guarantee a free space and has no system to warn you in advance. You arrive, find it's full, and start looking for an alternative with two suitcases in the boot and a flight in two hours.

P1 is a covered garage closer to the terminal, but is significantly more expensive and also cannot be reserved. More about the differences between P1, P2 and external car parks can be found in the car park comparison.

External car parks also fill up

External car parks near Bratislava Airport have a limited number of spaces. Most of them allow online booking, which is their main advantage over official car parks. But here too: spaces run out faster in summer.

Popular dates, especially weekends in July, are often booked two or three weeks in advance. If you wait until the last minute, you risk your preferred car park being full and having to look for another one.

When to book

The best time to book parking is immediately after buying your flight ticket. You don't have to wait for the exact plan, most good car parks allow date changes.

If you're buying a ticket in March or April for a summer departure, book parking the same day. If you're buying a ticket in June for a July departure, book immediately.

The later you book, the less choice you have. And in summer that applies doubly.

What to do if everything is full

If you've left your booking to the last minute and your preferred car park is full, you have several options.

Try other external car parks. There are several near Bratislava Airport and not all are full on the same day. Contact car parks by phone, sometimes they have spaces that are not in the online system.

If everything is booked, consider Bolt or a taxi. For one person on a short trip it can be a reasonable alternative. For a family with luggage, however, it's more complicated.

Cancellation reduces the risk of early booking

The main reason people don't book parking in advance is fear of losing money if plans change. With TUKAN Parking, cancellation is free as long as you do it at least 24 hours before parking starts. Plus dates can be changed.

If a car park requires stricter cancellation conditions, consider whether it's worth it. Usually it's better to have a car park where you can negotiate if plans change.

Summer parking at Bratislava Airport

Summer at Bratislava Airport means more travelers, more cars and fewer free spaces at higher prices. Those who book airport parking in advance have peace of mind, a better price and zero stress on departure day. Those who wait are taking a risk. With car parks offering flexible cancellation, it's smarter to book immediately and change if needed, than to look for a space at the last minute.
